In the 1960’s, theologian Karl Rahner insisted that, ““The devout Christian of the future will either be a ‘mystic,’ one who has ‘experienced’ something, or he(sic) will cease to be anything at all.” Sadly, far too many of us have acquired the notion that mysticism is beyond us. But if the DIVINE MYSTERY we call “GOD” finds expression in Creation, then we have all experienced the SACRED. So, we continue our CHAT about the question, “What is religion for?” with the topic of mysticism as we explore Experiences of the SACRED.
