Entering the Passion – Adult Education – Sunday March 24 @ 9:15am

Adult Education Classes – Sundays  @ 9:15am

Although the Bible gives us insights into what Jesus was thinking between the time he entered into Jerusalem and the night he spent in the Garden of Gethsemane, we can’t totally relate. But what if we look at the “ordinary” people who witnessed the Passion events…the women around Jesus and his disciples? Or the “bad” guys…Judas, Pilate, and Caiaphas? If we look closely at the people who were part of Jesus’ life during the last days before the crucifixion—their relationships and roles in the story—how might that deepen our understanding of what happened? In Entering the Passion of Jesus, Amy-Jill Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the Passion story to help us fill in the blanks.

Revolutionary LOVE – First Sunday in Lent

During Lent we are exploring the various ways in which the work of LOVE is accomplished. Each Sunday in Lent we will view and reflect upon a video that tells a story of LOVE’s embodiment in the world. Revolutionary LOVE calls us to love, others, love our opponents, love the Earth, love ourselves and thereby LOVE the MYSTERY that we call God.

Today, Valarie Kaur’s TEDtalk: “3 Lessons of revolutionary love in a time of rage” portrays the embodiment of LOVE in the life of a social activist, lawyer, filmmaker, Sikh, and mother, who envisions a world where LOVE is a public ethic.

First view Valarie Kaur’s empowering talk, then our reflections can be viewed in the video below. Then contemplate Valarie’s questions:

“What if this darkness is not the darkness of the tomb,  but the darkness of the womb?”  What if our future is not dead but still waiting to be born?”

LOVE Others, LOVE Opponents

LOVE the Earth, LOVER Ourselves

and thereby LOVE

the MYSTERY that we call God.

LOVE is more than a rush of feeling

LOVE is sweet labour

a choice we make over and over again.

See no Stranger

Tend the Wound

Breathe and Push

In the name of

Our LOVER, BELOVED, and LOVE Herself.

Transforming Into Something More Beautiful – Transfiguration Sunday

PUB-NIGHT BREWDINGS: Spiritual But NOT Religious!

TONIGHT!  Tuesday February 26:

7-9pm in the Upper Room at the Crow’s Nest Pub

People have been gathering in pubs for generations to talk about life and death, and what if anything it ALL means. So, come, bring your questions, your curiosity, and your wisdom, pull up a chair, enjoy a pint or a glass of your favourite tipple, and together we’ll learn from one another!  We may not find any answers, but if we are fortunate, we might just formulate some better questions. EVERYONE is welcome!!! People of any faith and no faith at all! We all have wisdom to share!!!  Our format will be simple: people of all sorts gathered around beer, wine, or water, for some lively conversations about the catch-phrase: “Spiritual But NOT Religious!”  So, join us in the Upper Room at the Crow’s Nest (115 Prospect St. Newmarket) on Tuesday February 26 at 7:00pm and add your voice to the conversation.
